Easy Flavorful Tofu – 3 SOS-Free Variations
Looking for quick, no-fuss tofu recipes that actually taste amazing? These three Whole Food Plant-Based, Salt-Oil-Sugar-Free tofu variations are packed with bold flavor and come together in minutes—no marinating, no pressing, and no waiting overnight. They’re my weekly go-tos when I want something savory, satisfying, and clean.
All three recipes use extra firm tofu (I love the Hodo brand) and no added oil, salt, or refined sugar. Let’s go!

1. Sweet & Spicy Maple Dijon Tofu
Ingredients
-
10 oz extra firm tofu
-
2 tbsp coconut aminos
-
2 tbsp pure maple syrup
-
1 tbsp stone-ground or Dijon mustard (no oil or sugar)
-
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
-
Cracked black pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
-
Mix all ingredients (except tofu) in an 8×8 dish.
-
Slice tofu into 1/4-inch thick strips. Coat each strip well in the sauce.
-
Place on the pan and bake 15–20 minutes until golden and slightly crisp.
-
Optional: Simmer any leftover sauce on the stove with a splash of water and drizzle over the finished tofu.
🍯 Flavor note: This one’s sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy—the mustard and maple combo is magic.

Bake on a parchment-lined tray for 15–18 minutes until deeply golden.
-
Optional: Thicken leftover sauce on stovetop and use as glaze.
🍚 Perfect with: Brown rice, steamed broccoli, or even over soba noodles.

3. Smoky Chipotle Maple Tofu
Ingredients
-
10 oz extra firm tofu
-
2 tbsp coconut aminos
-
1 tbsp pure maple syrup
-
1 tsp chipotle powder (or clean homemade chipotle adobo sauce)
-
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
-
Lots of fresh cracked black pepper
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400°F and line a pan with parchment.
-
Stir all sauce ingredients together in a dish.
-
Slice tofu into 1/4-inch strips and coat thoroughly in sauce.
-
Lay tofu on baking sheet, spooning extra sauce on top.
-
Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden and slightly charred on the edges.
-
Simmer remaining sauce to thicken and drizzle over tofu.
🔥 Flavor bomb: Bold, smoky, and just enough heat to keep you coming back for more.
